The latest Whole30 approved finds from Aldi, from chicken sausage and hot dogs to cold brew coffee and kombucha.
Do any of y’all find grocery shopping so relaxing? It’s one of my favorite things to do- just wander the aisles for treasures and yummy finds. That’s probably why grocery pick-up has never appealed to me (besides the fact that I’m crazy and inspect every egg, want the reddest strawberries, and my bananas have to be the right shade of green). That makes me sound a little crazy, but you get the idea.
I like grocery shopping.
Last week I popped into Aldi and found SO many good things, started snapping some of the products to share on Instagram and decided to round them up in a blog post. This list of healthy finds at Sam’s Club continues to be a fave, so now I’m adding an Aldi one to the blog too. I love how affordable Aldi is for those of us on a budget. Enjoy!
Protein Options
Since every Whole30 meal needs a solid protein option (and chicken breast def gets boring), we were big on finding fun new proteins to change things up. Here are a few good finds:
Honestly was so surprised this chicken sausage was compliant. Perfect to use in a breakfast hash or tray bake. This sweet Italian chicken sausage was compliant, too:
Cook that up with some onions, peppers, marinara, and spaghetti squash and you’ve got a delish pasta night.
This isn’t really a protein option to eat straight up, but it was such a good price that I picked some up. Wrap some shrimp with it for a fancy Whole30 approved appetizer, or add it to your omelette in the morning.
Another find I was so pumped about! Applegate hot dogs were a go-to emergency meal for us, and I love this affordable option at Aldi. I cruised for compliant bacon but no luck.
Pantry Staples
You can’t beat a $1.89 price for a jar of marinara. The tomato basil flavor is compliant, too.
Perfect for sauteeing veggies, putting a spoonful on your sweet potato with cinnamon and sea salt, or for removing makeup (yep, really).
I’m including this ghee because it’s affordable- but I’m not a big fan of the taste. It works if you’re on a budget, but this brand is worth the extra $ for us.
$2.99 for compliant chicken bone broth is a STEAL, y’all. They have beef broth as well, but it’s a no-go for Whole30 with “caramel color” on the ingredients list.
Avocado oil is the perfect neutral tasting oil for baking at high heat or for making homemade mayo or ranch. We use the basic mayo recipe in this book and have been using this ranch recipe (just leave out the jalapeno).
Odds & Ends
Hello cold brew coffee with only two ingredients! Water and Arabica coffee. Add some Nutpods and you have the perfect creamy iced coffee (French Vanilla is my fave).
GTS Kombucha is one of the only lines out there that has a Whole30 compliant flavor- the Original flavor is for sure compliant- read labels on the others!
Do you wish that Pepperoni Calzone below the ‘booch was Whole30 approved? Me too, friend.
Lastly- Aldi has tons of fresh and frozen veggie mixes like this. Simply ditch the sauce for your own, add a protein, and you have a super easy meal. Perfect to keep in the freezer for nights when you’re SO over it.
That’s it, friends! I hope this list gives you some ideas to add to your next Aldi shopping list.
