This 5-Minute Creamy Chipotle Mayo is the perfect universal sauce for drizzling, dipping and spreading! Only six ingredients + can be modified to be Whole30 compliant!
If there’s one sauce/spread/dressing that can please any Texan, it’s chipotle mayo.
Drizzle it on tacos.
Use it as a creamy salad dressing.
Dip sweet potato fries in it. (Really please do this. It’s insanely good.)
Use it as a spread on a burger.
It’s one of those sauces that I’m never worried if I make too much because I know it will be gone in two days.
The Ingredients
The best part about this sauce is it’s simplicity.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- lime
- fresh cilantro
- chipotle peppers in adobe sauce
- salt
- garlic
- creamy base*
*This sauce can be made two ways. We’ve made it a million times with plain Greek yogurt as the base, which makes it lower in calories if you’re looking for a “skinny” option. During our Whole30, we made it with homemade mayo from the original Whole30 book, and it was equally as tasty.
You’ll also need a food processor to blend the sauce smoothly. For Valentine’s Day last year, my husband got me this mini spatula set, and they are the BEST for using in the food processor and in small bowls.
Yes, my husband gets me kitchen tools for holidays. I’m easy to please, y’all.
One More Shortcut
During our Whole30, I could never find chipotle peppers in adobe sauce that were compliant.
So, here’s what you can do: substitute the chipotle peppers for chili powder, let it sit for 5 minutes or so for the flavors to mix, and serve it up. Whole30 or not, if you’re in a pinch, chili powder will do the trick.
(By the way, you can find chipotle peppers in adobe sauce usually near the Hispanic food section in a grocery store, near the diced green chiles and jalapeños.)
The uses for this chipotle mayo are endless- enjoy!
